My original instrument was the piano, which I taught for many years. Shortly before retiring in 1985 I decided to take up the violin in order to play in orchestras.

Howard Palinsky

Mr. Palinsky’s story of his return to his instrument is typical of many of the members of the orchestra who came to rediscover the joys of their instrument years after putting it away.

Ernest Glauberson

I have been playing violin since I was 10.  My mother wanted me to learn piano, but there was no space in our tiny one-room apartment in Russia for a piano or money to buy one. I practiced while standing on the bed most of the time (away from the traffic of the grandparents).
